Mandatory evacuations lifted in Fort Collins area after fire sparks on gusty day
UPDATE [12:50 p.m.]: The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office has announced that mandatory evacuations listed below have been lifted. “You may return to the area and resume normal activity.”

Amid strong winds and dangerous fire conditions, a wildfire has sparked in northern Colorado, just north of Fort Collins.
Per a report from the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, mandatory fire evacuations are underway southeast of LaPorte. The evacuation zone is found on the northern edge of Fort Collins, including the North Shields Ponds Natural Area and the McMurry Natural Area at time of reporting (12:45 p.m.; 3/12/26). This evacuation area was last described as Terry Lake Road south to Vine Drive and Highway 287 west to North Overland Trail. Per last report from Poudre Fire Authority, smoke from the fire was limiting visibility on roads in the area.
Video published by Poudre Fire Authority of the scene shows quite a bit of smoke, though flames can not be seen in the two short clips.
No indication of size or containment has been published at time of reporting.
