6 places to rent a boat in Colorado this summer

As the summer approaches, Coloradans might already be thinking about activities for the warmer months, and that includes boating. Colorado includes plenty of lakes to enjoy the water throughout the summer, and many offer boat rentals.

Here are some of the best places to rent boats across Colorado:

Editor’s Note: Availability of boat rentals can vary by the year, with dry years like 2026 sometimes meaning fewer options. Utilize reservation systems any time you’re planning a trip so that you don’t show up for disappointment.

  1. Dillon Reservoir

The Dillon Marina offers rentals for pontoon boats and sailboats. As the largest lake in the area, boating here offers visitors an excellent opportunity to explore the lake, fish, or just enjoy the water and sun. The marina also offers rentals for stand-up paddleboards and kayaks. Note that Dillon Reservoir has already announced major changes in terms of what type of boats will be on the water this summer (2026), with the main marina not opening due to low water. Some boats, however, will be available to rent, just not in the typical spot.

2. Blue Mesa Reservoir

The Elk Creek and Lake Fork Marinas offer rentals for pontoon boats, stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, canoes, aluminum boats, and boat slips. Renters must be at least 21 years old and have a valid driver’s license to rent a boat. Life vests are also provided for all occupants, and children aged 12 years and under and non-swimmers must wear life jackets at all times.

3. Pueblo Reservoir

Rentals for boats are available at both the South Shore Marina and North Shore Marina at Pueblo Reservoir.

4. Grand Lake

The Grand Lake Marina & Boaters Choice offers rentals for motor boats and paddle sports. It also has The Wake Coffee Shop that serves guests coffee, breakfast, and lunch.

5. Cherry Creek Reservoir

The Pelican Bay Marina at Cherry Creek Reservoir offers a variety of boating options including pontoons and wake and surf boats.

6. Lake George

At Lake George, visitors can visit the 11 Mile Marina to rent 20-foot pontoon boats, 16-foot lund fishing boats, and more.
