Resort announces bike park will be closed for entirety of 2026
Following a local ski season that was disrupted by an employee strike and a general lack of snow, those visiting Telluride in southwest Colorado this summer are set to see some limitations when it comes to recreation, as well.
Per a recent announcement from Telluride Resort, the Telluride Bike Park won’t be opening during the summer of 2026. The closure is due to a Lift 4 operational upgrade project that started after the recent end of ski operations.
“While we explored multiple options, there are too many variables that would need to align in order to provide lift-served and/or alternative access to the Bike Park during construction,” read an announcement from the resort.
While the Telluride Bike Park will be closed, cross-country trails and hiking trails will be open and accessible free of charge from the Gondola Station San Sophia. Downhill, technical, and free-ride trails will not be open throughout the entirety of 2026. Many other local activities will operate per norm, including the zipline, kids camps, Cubs camp nursery, Spider Jump, and Mining Sluice.
Even with the Bike Park closure, there’s still plenty to do in Telluride during summer and fall. Find local hikes, popular festivals and other events, and a downtown scene that’s fun to explore.
