Controversy brewing ahead of dating event for ‘unvaxxed’ at Denver bar

The announcement of an ‘unvaxxed singles and community’ meet-up that’s set to take place at a popular Denver bar has been getting quite a bit of attention online since it was announced this week.

UPDATE: Per a press release from Recess Beer Garden, the event will no longer be taking place at their establishment. Read more on that here.

Set to take place on May 29 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Recess Beer Garden, the description for the event reads: “Unvaxxed people are hotter. We don’t make the rules. Come find out for yourself this summer. Unjected is going on tour.”

Unjected is the name of the online platform that’s hosting the event, with other upcoming stops set to take place in Nashville, Boise, and Portland. Recess Beer Garden released a statement noting that the event is not affiliated with the bar.

The description of the event continues to read “No event fee. No agenda. Just the most attractive group of medically autonomous people you’ve ever been in a room with.”

An Instagram post that announced the event has garnered more than 700 comments in four days, including a comment from Recess Beer Garden which states the following: “Just to clarify, Recess is NOT affiliated with, sponsoring, or hosting this event. As a public venue, outside groups occasionally choose to gather here independently under our first come, open seating policy. We’ve also informed organizers that any filming/interview-style content will not be permitted at Recess.”

The many other comments on the announcement post reflect a wide range of views related to the topic of vaccination. Those can be read here. Meanwhile, commentary attached to a Reddit post about the event is largely negative.

Recess Beer Garden maintains a 4.3-star rating on Google Reviews and a 3.7-star rating on Yelp, both of which appear to have been recently impacted by numerous one-star reviews published in protest of the ‘unvaxxed’ event.

Unjected, the group behind the event, bills itself as the ‘world’s first unvaccinated platform’ promoting “love, friendship, and community connections since 2021.”

“While we do not support vaccination of any kind, Unjected is specifically tailored for Covid-19 unvaccinated or any mRNA based injection,” reads the group’s website.

The original post announcing the event can be found here.
