Wildlife officers relocate bear family out of neighborhood in major Colorado city
Wildlife officers relocated a mother black bear and her two toddler cubs that were found under the back deck of a family home in a Colorado Springs north gate neighborhood on Saturday.
According to a X post from Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) Southeast Region, officers responded to the home and immobilized the bears, placing them in wildlife trailers.
The bears were then given a “wake up” drug and released several hours south into “better bear habitat.”
According to CPW’s Living with Bears page, you should avoid leaving attractants like trash and bird feeders where they are accessible to bears, never approach bears or offer food, and keep your dogs leashed. If you do see a bear, stand still, stay calm, and wait for the bear to leave, making sure the bear has an opening to exit the area.
