Man left not breathing after 25-foot-fall at popular Colorado rock climbing crag
A rock climber is lucky to have escaped with his life after a big fall in Summit County in recent days.
According to a report from the local sheriff’s office, their deputies received a report of a rock climbing incident that took place at a popular climbing area outside of Frisco involving a man who had fallen 25 to 30 feet. The report didn’t note exactly where the fall took place. The most popular climbing crag found outside of Frisco in this area is probably Officer’s Gulch, though the location of the incident is unconfirmed.
According to the sheriff’s office report, the climber fell when the “belay rope ran out and slipped.” After the fall, the man was reportedly not conscious and wasn’t breathing.
Thankfully, shortly after deputies arrived at the scene, the man regained consciousness, complaining of head pain and hip pain. He was ultimately loaded onto a wheeled litter and transported from the scene by paramedics for further medical attention. It was determined that the man sustained only a concussion and other very minor injuries despite the scary situation.
