Garden of the Gods will offer rare peace and quiet for upcoming morning

In the middle of the busy season at Garden of the Gods, an upcoming morning promises rare serenity.

June 26 is the next scheduled Early Bird Hike and Bike at the park. From 5-8 a.m. that Wednesday, Garden of the Gods’ entrances will be closed to vehicles for people on foot or self-powered wheels to enjoy the roads and trails free of noise and fumes.

Parking will be available at the large overflow lot by the main entrance off 30th Street, as well as at the visitor and nature center and Garden of the Gods Trading Post. For people with disabilities, designated parking is at the visitor and nature center, where a shuttle will run into the Garden upon request.

Set for the last Wednesday of every summer month, the Early Bird Hike and Bike series is an offshoot of Motorless Morning, the occasional Sunday event in non-summer months that blocks cars later into the morning.

As in Motorless Mornings, in-line and roller skaters are allowed for Early Bird Hike and Bike, but skateboarders and longboarders are not. E-bikes are also allowed on the roads.

The next Early Bird Hike and Bike events are scheduled for July 31, Aug. 28 and Sept. 25.
