Man killed by falling tree at Colorado mountain resort
A 52-year-old Eldora Mountain Resort staff member died on Thursday morning following a tragic accident.
According to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, the male staff member was assisting with trail maintenance at the Nederland-area destination when a tree fell on top of him at about 10 a.m., resulting in life-threatening injuries.
Immediate medical care was provided by ski patrol and Flight for Life Colorado was called to the scene. Unfortunately, the man succumbed to his wounds before the arrival of air transportation.
The employee’s identity has not been released, nor has his official cause of death – both of which will come from the Boulder County Coroner’s Office at a later date. That said, law enforcement has noted that the man’s death does not appear to be suspicious in nature at this time.
Condolences go out to those impacted by this tragic death.
Eldora Mountain Resort closed to guests on April 21, with the mountain closed to all public access after the ski season ends.
