Notable clue uncovered related to 18-year-old woman’s death in Colorado canyon
On February 15, the body of 18-year-old Megan Trussell was found near mile marker 40 of Boulder Canyon Drive in Boulder County, described to be in “hard-to-reach terrain” that required first responders to utilize the rappel technique during the recovery process. Close to a month later, the investigation into Trussell’s death continues.
Prior to the February 15 discovery of Megan Trussell’s body, she was reported missing to the University of Colorado Police Department on February 12, last seen alive on February 9. At that time, law enforcement asked the public for additional information related to Megan’s activity on the last day she was confirmed to be alive.
In a notable update published on March 11, additional details related to the case were released to the public. According to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Megan’s purse has been recovered. That said, details related to its location and contents are not being released to the public pending the ongoing investigation. Additionally, Megan’s cause and manner of death remain to be determined, though law enforcement has continued to state that there is not believed to be a threat to the local community.
“As with any major ongoing investigation, certain details cannot and should not be released to protect the integrity of the case,” said Detective Commander Jeff Pelletier. “We understand the community’s interest and the desire for information, but we must maintain a careful balance. Based on the circumstances known at this time, foul play is not suspected. However, the case remains open, and under investigation.”
Anyone with information related to the case was previously asked to contact the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office at [email protected].
Condolences go out to those impacted by Megan’s death.
