A third death occurred on Colorado’s Million Dollar Highway last month, following a prior incident that killed two on August 5.

According to the Ouray County Government, 65-year-old Olga Kramar was killed on August 23 in a motorcycle crash on the notorious route. Few details about the crash were made available in the related press release, though it was noted that the fatal crash that killed Kramar took place in the area of mile marker 90, which is about three miles south of Ouray. Kramar divided her time between Mountain Village, Colorado (near Telluride) and Phoenix, Arizona.

Meanwhile, additional details have been released related to an autopsy of the deceased driver involved in the August 5 crash that resulted in an adult passenger dying as well and a juvenile passenger being sent to the hospital. In that crash, a Honda Civic traveled off the side of the road in the area of mile marker 88 (about five miles south of Ouray), rolling about 320 feet before landing in a river that runs along the valley floor.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the August 5 crash was reported to have nearly 40 times the legal limit of Delta 9 THC in his system in a follow-up autopsy, per a report from the Denver Post. That same report also notes that the driver was reversing the vehicle when a tire slipped off the road.

Condolences go out to those impacted by all three of these deaths. The Million Dollar Highway stretch of Highway 550 between Ouray and Silverton is known for its stunning views, but witnessing those views can come with risk due to the road’s winding nature, steep grades, and a large drop-off that flakes the side of the road.
