Student arrested after bringing loaded gun to Overland High School
A 17-year-old student was detained after bringing a loaded gun to the school Wednesday, according to police. No one was injured.
AURORA, Colo. — One student was detained by police after bringing a loaded gun to a high school in Aurora Wednesday.
At about 8:40 a.m., a 17-year-old student at Overland High School was spotted with a gun while in the hallways of the school, according to the Aurora Police Department. Someone noticed the weapon and shouted out to alert staff members, police said.
Staff members chased after the teen and tackled them to the ground, according to police. A School Resource Officer who is stationed at the school detained the student and recovered the loaded gun, police said. Police confirmed the firearm was not stolen.
The school was immediately put on lockdown and nobody was injured, according to police. No shots were fired and the student was taken into custody for possession of a firearm, police said.
