Truck driver hospitalized, United flight deplaned after Denver airport crash
The driver of a de-icing truck was hospitalized and a United Airlines flight was deplaned after a crash at Denver International Airport on Friday.
Amid heavy snowfall, United Airlines flight 605 headed to Nashville hit the truck while leaving the de-icing pad around 8:30 a.m. Friday, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said.
The driver of the truck, an employee of the contractor used by DIA for the de-icing service, was hospitalized from the collision, a spokesperson with United Airlines said Friday. None of the flight’s 122 passengers or six crew members reported injuries from the incident.
The flight’s passengers deplaned on the tarmac using stairs and were bused back to the terminal after the crash, the spokesperson added. United Airlines is arranging for a different plane to operate the flight.
The Denver area saw heavy snowfall beginning around 7 a.m. Friday, with up to at least 5 inches expected throughout the metro area by the end of the day. The airport began de-icing procedures for all flights around 7:30 a.m., according to the FAA.
The FAA will conduct an investigation into the crash.
