Denver weather: Hundreds of flights delayed at DIA, winter weather advisory in effect for metro area
The National Weather Service in Boulder sent out new Winter Weather Advisories for metro Denver and Boulder Saturday morning.
Due to the storm, 588 Denver International Airport flights have been delayed as of noon, according to FlightAware, and there have been 91 flights cancelled.
Denver is forecast for a winter storm Saturday with the chance of rain, fog and snow, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
As forecast, fog and rain turned to snow late Saturday morning in Denver and was snowing steadily in early afternoon.
Snow is possible along Interstate 25 from metro Denver to Fort Collins, making travel conditions potentially hazardous, according to the weather service.
“While snow totals are still uncertain, be prepared for suddenly changing weather and slick and slushy travel conditions. Several inches will be possible especially in the western and southern suburbs of Denver,” the weather service said in its forecast discussion.
In the evening, snow is expected to persist with an additional 1-3 inches possible. Temperatures will likely drop to around 28 after a high of 37.
Looking ahead with the National Weather Service:
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 43. Light and variable wind becoming south southeast around 6 mph in the afternoon.
