Jefferson Lake is one of the most popular summer destinations in Park County, offering fishing and boating at a pretty lake within an easy drive of the Denver area. The Aspen Campground is one of three in the area below the lake. As the name suggests, the 12 sites are located in aspen groves in a valley along Jefferson Creek. Amenities include picnic tables, vault toilets, and drinking water. The campground can accommodate RVs 25 feet long or shorter.
Camping can be a blast, but when you’re sick, it can feel like the opposite. So it was for my wife when she discovered, one day into a three-day camping trip here, that she had a violent stomach flu. Getting sick all night is never any fun, but when all you have is a foul-smelling latrine, it is much worse. We went home early.
