Not only is Colorado Springs a fantastic place to live, but a recent survey from U.S. News and World Report magazine shows that people are taking notice.

With Pikes Peak and the surrounding Front Range mountains as a backdrop, and a host of recreational opportunities, Colorado Springs topped the list of America’s most desirable places to live, according to the survey which was released earlier this month.

That  survey comes just months after Colorado Springs ranked second in a list of “Best Places to Live” by the publication.

Just under Colorado Springs in the survey ranked Portland, San Diego, Honolulu and Seattle, respectively.

Of the top five most desirable places in the survey, Colorado Springs is the smallest, with a metropolitan population listed as 688,643. It is also the most affordable with a median home price of $255,233 compared to the highest median home price of Honolulu, which sits at $581,658.

In the  Best Places to Live ranking, Colorado Springs was topped only by Austin, Texas.
