Arapahoe County adds RTD station ballot box, bringing total to 33
Arapahoe County added a new 24-hour ballot drop box at the Iliff RTD station in Aurora, the county Clerk and Recorder’s Office announced Monday.
The ballot box, paid for with federal CARES Act funding, brings the county’s total drop off locations up to 33 heading into the election.
The location was selected based on public urge to make ballot box locations accessible for those who use RTD to commute to vote, the Clerk and Recorder’s Office said in a release.
“Voters told us they wanted drop boxes close to public transportation, and we listened,” said Joan Lopez, Arapahoe County clerk and recorder.
“We’re so happy to collaborate with the City of Aurora to meet voters where they are and give them better access. We’re also extremely grateful for the funding provided by the Secretary of State’s Office to make sure voters stay healthy as they cast their ballots in this election.”
The ballot box, located in the station’s parking structure at 14000 E. Wesley Ave., was installed too late to be counted on the county’s voter instructions mailing, but it will be featured on the county’s website.
All 24-hour ballot drop boxes will open on Oct. 9, the day ballots will be mailed to Arapahoe County voters. Ballots must be returned to the County Clerk by 7 p.m. on Election Night, Nov. 3.
