16-year-old charged as adult in Commerce City double shooting
A 16-year-old boy is being charged as an adult in connection to a double shooting in Commerce City that left two teens injured, the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday.
The suspect, Kevin Cante, is being charged with four counts of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of first-degree assault with a deadly weapon.
The shooting happened Oct. 4 after an altercation at a house party in the 16800 block of East 110th Avenue.
The Commerce City Police Department responded about 1:45 a.m. and found two teens suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victims were taken to a hospital with nonlife-threatening wounds, police said.
Cante is also being charged with two counts of felony menacing, four counts of crime of violence, possession of a weapon by a previous juvenile offender and possession of a handgun by a juvenile as a second offense.
Cante was advised of the charges Tuesday in Adams County District Court. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 12.
He is currently being held on a $100,000 bond.
