Larimer County reopens several parks, open spaces after Cameron Peak closures
Several Larimer County closures were released Friday after the county’s Department of Natural Resources determined the Cameron Peak wildfire is no longer a threat in the areas.
The reopenings include Devil’s Backbone Open Space, Blue Sky Trail, Horsetooth Mountain Open Space, Horsetooth Reservoir South Bay, Prairie Ridge Natural Area and Flatiron & Pinewood Reservoir.
Hermit Park Open Space is still closed to public use as a result of nearby evacuation orders.
The openings are effective immediately.
Officials said the decision to reopen was made after careful monitoring and assessment of the fire.
The Cameron Peak fire has reached 206,977 acres, the largest wildfire in Colorado’s recorded history. It is at 57% containment as of Friday morning.
Current closure statuses are available at trails.colorado.gov and larimer.org/naturalresources.
