Ball Arena to be used as voting center
Denver’s Ball Arena will be used as a Vote Service and Polling Center for November’s general election, the Denver Elections Division announced Monday.
Ball Arena, previously named the Pepsi Center, will be the 36th VSPC in Denver. It will be open for voting from Oct. 30 to Nov. 3. The arena will be closed Nov. 1.
“We are so excited to be partnering with Kroenke Sports & Entertainment to provide a supersized vote center for Denver voters this election,” Denver Clerk and Recorder Paul Lopez said.
“Although most voters take advantage of the safest and most convenient option to vote their mail ballot at home, we know that many Denverites will benefit from the Ball Arena’s central location near the growing Union Station neighborhood and Auraria campus.”
The arena is at 1000 Chopper Circle in Auraria, blocks from the Union Station, Highland and Jefferson Park neighborhood borders.
In addition to in-person voter registration and voting services, the Denver Elections Division will open a drive-thru drop-off and curbside ballot pickup service at Ball Arena.
“Using Ball Arena as a voting center not only creates more safe access for voters, but also brings more awareness to voting in general,” Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold said. “Given the challenges of conducting an election during COVID-19, it’s important to be creative in order to give voters safe options.”
Ball Arena’s owner, Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, is partnering with numerous organizations to encourage voter turnout.
Partner organizations include the NBA, NHL, Major League Soccer, NFL, I am a Voter, More than a Vote, Rally the Vote, RISE, Rock the Vote, When We All Vote and Unidos.
