Contest opens to name rescued Commerce City kitten

The Denver Dumb Friends League is hosting a contest to name the 5-week-old kitten who was rescued last week after being found frozen to the tire of a semitruck in Commerce City.

Entries and voting opened Monday and will close Wednesday at 5 p.m.

A good Samaritan saved the kitten’s life, spending 20 minutes splashing warm water on the kitten to free her tail and paws from the metal surface, the Dumb Friends League said.

The kitten is recovering in a foster home with a Dumb Friends League veterinary intern.

The kitten is on pain medication for swelling in her front paws, but officials said she is healthy and becoming more comfortable with people.

The entry with the most votes will be the winning name. Entries including profanity or inappropriate language are not allowed.

Voting and entries are available at ddfl.org/kitten-naming-contest.
