Boulder pet food company celebrates Denver lifting pit bull ban
Denver voters passed Measure 2J this week, lifting an over-30-year-old ban on dog breeds including pit bulls, American pit bull terriers, American Staffordshire terriers and Staffordshire bull terriers.
To celebrate, the Boulder-based pet food company “I and love and you” is donating 2,500 meals to My Fairy Dawg Mother, a Denver rescue that specializes in hard-to-adopt dogs like pit bulls.
CEO Beau Mainous called lifting the ban “a huge win for Denver.”
“News of this repeal is not only of benefit to Denver pet owners, but it will save the lives of many pit bulls,” Mainous said. “At ‘I and love and you,’ we believe that all dogs and cats deserve the best love regardless of their breed.”
In addition to the donation, the company is also giving online users 25% off all purchases with the promo code “PITTYLOVE.” The code lasts until the end of 2020.
“These dogs are no different than any other dog,” said Stefanie Klatt of My Fairy Dawg Mother in an online announcement. “They are sweet, loving, goofy, sensitive little creatures that crave and deserve love.”
“Denver overwhelming wants these dogs in their community which means we can get more dogs loving homes.”
In Denver, nearly 65% of the 276,000 votes cast were in favor of lifting the pit bull ban.
