Santa to light up 55-foot tree in Castle Rock

Jolly Ol’ Saint Nick will be bringing the holiday spirit to Douglas County next weekend as he will be lighting the Christmas tree at the Outlets at Castle Rock.

The lighting ceremony of the 55-foot-tall Christmas tree from the Shasta-Trinity National Forest will take place on Nov. 14 at sunset, and will shine for miles as over 8,000 LED lights will be wrapped around the tree.

In addition to the lights, the tree will be fully decorated with 5,000 ornaments and bows.

Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that has canceled thousands of events and tarnished multiple holiday traditions, the tree at least one tradition still standing.

Anyone interested in viewing the lighting ceremony can bring camping chairs and set up in designated areas in the parking lot near Levi’s and Polo Ralph Lauren.

Hot chocolate will also be available.
