Aurora offices, facilities to close for Veterans Day

Numerous City of Aurora offices and facilities will close Wednesday in observance of Veterans Day, the city announced Monday.

City closures include all municipal offices and courts, all libraries, the Aurora History Museum, Aurora Animal Shelter, Beck Recreation Center, Bicentennial Art Center, Central Recreation Center, Moorhead Recreation Center and Senac Creek Nature Center.

Regarding library closures, no fines will be assessed and no holds will expire during the closure.

The Morrison Nature Center will have adjusted hours for Veterans Day, opening from noon to 4 p.m. The Plains Conservation Center will open for hiking only from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The visitor center will be closed.

The operations of Aurora’s detention center, police department, fire rescue and public safety communications will not be influenced by Veterans Day.

The Aurora Reservoir and the city’s golf courses also will not be affected.

On Wednesday, payment for parking at on-street parking meters and commuter permit zones will not be required. Posted, non-safety parking restrictions will not be enforced.
