Colorado Ballet cancels live performances for remainder of season
Colorado Ballet has cancelled all scheduled live performances at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House for the remainder of the 2020/21 season, the company announced Thursday.
All productions, including “The Great Gatsby,” “The Wizard of Oz” and “Giselle,” will be rescheduled at a later date.
The cancellations are a result of the ongoing state and county restrictions regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, the announcement said.
“Right now we are reimagining the remainder of our current season,” said Artistic Director Gil Boggs. “We will do everything possible to enable our dancers to continue to share their artistry with our patrons.”
Colorado Ballet will be airing its annual performance of “The Nutcracker” on Rocky Mountain PBS in six live broadcasts between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The company is also planning to begin rehearsals in January for alternative, mixed-repertory programs using small groups of dancers that will be performed in February, March and April.
These performances will be available to be viewed virtually or by a small number of audience members in person at the Black Box Theater at Colorado Ballet’s Armstrong Center for Dance.
More information about these upcoming performances will be released in the coming months.
