The driver of a vehicle involved in a rollover accident late Friday has died, according to officials at the Denver Police Department.

Information about the driver including their gender is not currently being released, said Ana Munoz a public information officer for the department.

At approximately 11 p.m. Friday, Denver Police received a report about a single-car crash near I-70 west and North Peoria Street.

When officers arrived they saw the vehicle had rolled over and that the driver was ejected through the windshield of the vehicle and was transported to a nearby hospital.

Munoz said she did not know whether the driver was pronounced dead last night or today.

She added it is too early in the investigation to know whether the driver was wearing their seatbelt, or if outside factors such as alcohol played a role in the accident.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
