Two lost hikers rescued in Boulder

Boulder County Sheriff's Office

Two lost female hikers were rescued from Boulder’s Chautauqua Park after going off trail, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Officials were notified of the lost hikers Saturday at 6:15 p.m. The two had diverted from the trail while hiking down the Royal Arch trail earlier in the afternoon, officials said.

Once the sun went down, the hikers were unable to see where they were going and became lost. They ended up south and east of Sentinel Pass.

In a two-hour rescue, members from Rocky Mountain Rescue Group hiked in and located the hikers, assisting them to their vehicle.

The hikers were uninjured and released from the scene.

The City of Boulder Open Space Mountain Parks Rangers also assisted in the rescue.
