Fredrick teen rescued at the base of Second Flatiron Thursday morning

Boulder County Sheriff’s Office say they rescued a Frederick 16-year-old from the base of the Second Flatiron Thursday morning.

Authorities say they were dispatched to near the base of the Second Flatiron shortly after 8:30 a.m. Thursday, after receiving a call that a hiker had injured his ankle, according to the press release.

A ranger from the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parkers hiked into the area and located the group of hikers.

Rocky Mountain Rescue Group provided first aid and moved the injured teen to the Bluebell Shelter. He was then transported to the Ranger Cottage to be released to his parents, according to the release.

The rescue mission took approximately two and a half hours. 

This is the third time this month the officials have had to rescue an injured hiker from the Second Flatiron in Boulder County.
