Man charged with murder for fentanyl overdose death of 16-year-old Lakewood girl
Jorge Alexander Che-Quiab has been charged with the murder of a 16-year-old girl from Lakewood who was killed by a fentanyl overdose in Aurora on Aug. 7.
Che-Quiab, 25, has been charged with 13 counts, including first-degree murder with extreme indifference, first-degree felony murder, sexual assault, sexual assault of a child and two counts of distributing a controlled substance to a minor.
Che-Quiab was indicted by an 18th Judicial District grand jury, the District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.

According to the indictment, Che-Quiab and a male friend invited multiple girls, some of whom were minors, over to Che-Quiab’s apartment and provided them with alcohol and drugs.
During the gathering, Che-Quiab gave blue pills to the 16-year-old girl, telling her they were oxycodone. The pills were laced with fentanyl.
The girl overdosed that night, at one point having a seizure in front of the males. The coroner determined she died from mixed alcohol and fentanyl toxicity.
Che-Quiab and his male friend did not take the drugs themselves but distributed them to all of the girls.
After which, the males sexually assaulted some of the intoxicated girls, including a 14-year-old child.

“It is incredibly concerning that unsuspecting drug users could inadvertently be consuming fentanyl, which is 50 times stronger than oxycodone,” said District Attorney George Brauchler.
“In this case, we have a juvenile victim who was given what she thought was ‘oxy,’ and she is dead from a fentanyl overdose. This is a warning to illegal drug users: The risk cannot be overstated, and it is death.”
Che-Quiab is being held on a $2 million bond in the Arapahoe County Jail. His next court date is scheduled for Dec. 9 at 1:30 p.m.
