Free COVID-19 testing site to open in Denver’s Fort Logan neighborhood

A new free community COVID-19 testing site is set to open Tuesday in Denver’s Fort Logan neighborhood, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment announced.

The testing site, run in partnership with the Tri-County Health Department and Mako Medical, is located at 4030 S. Newton St.

The testing site will be open Tuesdays through Fridays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years Day.

Hours and days of operation are subject to change after Jan. 2.

CDPHE recommends people get tested for COVID-19 around seven days after suspected exposure or immediately if experiencing symptoms.

COVID-19 symptoms can appear two to 14 days after exposure and include fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, body aches, headache, sore throat and loss of taste or smell.

People who suspect they have been exposed to the virus should isolate themselves while they await test results.

Currently, experts estimate one in 40 Coloradans are contagious with the coronavirus.
