Seven people were transported to the hospital following a residential fire in Brighton Saturday afternoon, officials said.

None of the individuals were burned, but all were transported to the hospital to be observed for smoke inhalation, said Natalie Ridderbos, the public information officer with Brighton Fire Rescue.

Officials are not releasing information about whether all seven members inside the home are residents.

Firefighters responded to a report of a house fire in the 1300 block of Strong Street shortly after 2:30 p.m.

When they arrived, firefighters observed “heavy fire in the basement and 1st floor. All occupants were already out of the house,” the tweet read.

Although the flames were not completely extinguished, fire crews said the flames were under control and began the overhaul phase around 3:30 p.m., said Ridderbos.

Currently the cause of the fire is unknown, but as soon as the fire is fully extinguished they will begin an investigation.
