2 dead, one injured in Denver burglary, officer-involved shooting
Two people were killed and another was critically wounded in an attempted burglary and carjacking on Monday morning, the Denver Police Department said.
DPD Division Chief Ron Thomas said police were called to the 900 block of North Monaco Parkway just before noon on a reported burglary in progress.
Man stabbed on 16th Street Mall, suspect at-large
When officers arrived, they found a man dead outside a home. The person was later identified as the homeowner. A woman shooting victim found inside the home was taken to a hospital. He is in critical condition, police said.
Officers chased one of the suspects and caught him at East 10th Avenue and Magnolia Street. He was taken into custody.
Another suspect got away in a black Honda sedan and remains at-large.

Once officers caught the first suspect, they heard gunshots from the north and witnessed what appeared to be a carjacking in progress, Thomas said.
Officers confronted the carjacking suspect, at which point they fired their weapons, striking the suspect.

The suspect, a man, was taken to a hospital and was later pronounced dead. Police believe the carjacking suspect was also involved in the burglary.
No officers were injured.
A joint investigation with Denver police and the Aurora Police Department has been launched to investigate the officer-involved shooting.
The investigation will be overseen by the Office of the Independent Monitor and its results will be reviewed by the Denver District Attorney’s Office.
