Cinemark movie theaters to reopen in Colorado amid loosened COVID regulations

Cinemark Holdings will reopen all of its Colorado theaters on Friday, offering showings of new and classic movies with tickets available for purchase now.

This comes as Gov. Jared Polis asked all Level Red counties in the state to lower to Level Orange restrictions by Monday, allowing for the reopening of indoor events and dining.

Cinemark said theaters will reopen with enhanced cleanliness and safety measures, including mandatory face masks for guests and staff, staggered showtimes, limited auditorium capacity and increased air flow and fan usage.

“The health and safety of employees, guests and communities is a top priority,” Cinemark’s announcement read.

For further caution, guests are also able to rent entire Cinemark auditoriums for private watch parties with up to 20 guests.

The watch parties allow guests to choose their own movie for $99 for a classic film and $149 for a new release.

During private watch parties, Cinemark will be offering older films such as “Anchorman,” “Kung Fu Panda,” “Sing,” “Crazy Rich Asians,” “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” “Legally Blonde,” “Selma,” “Groundhog Day” and more.

Newly released films available during reopening will include “Wonder Woman 1984,” “News of the World,” “Promising Young Woman” and “Monster Hunter.”

There are nine Cinemark theaters throughout the state in Boulder, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, Greeley, Lakewood, Pueblo and Aurora.
