500-pound elk rescued from backyard swimming pool in Loveland
Officials rescued a cow elk Sunday evening after she fell into a covered swimming pool in a Loveland backyard, Colorado Parks and Wildlife said.
CPW wildlife officers and firefighters from Loveland Fire Rescue Authority pulled the elk out of the pool by wrapping straps around her body.
Officials said it took a few attempts to free the elk, who they estimate weighed 500 pounds.
The elk did not appear to be injured, running away after being freed and only taking a short amount of time to recover.
CPW said they expect the elk will be OK.
