Denver Public Arts to implement 2 public arts projects

Bows 1.jpg

Denver is home too many different types of people that vary in race, religion and creed.

To highlight some of its members, Denver Public Arts is searching for an artist or team of artists to help create public artworks for the Sun Valley neighborhood on Denver’s west side.

The project is intended to create unique and inspiring works of art on at least two exterior sites within the Sun Valley neighborhood. The artist or group of artists will be provided a budget of $120,000.

Two sites have been identified for the project but are awaiting approval. The sites include Rude Park at West 13th Avenue and Decatur Street, which is near Lakewood Gulch Trail.

Officials say the art could be a “gateway” or “beacon” to the community.

The other site is a reconstructed length of West 10th Avenue between Decatur and Bryant streets. Officials say this site is considered a “festival” street and are looking for the art to spread along the wall onto the sidewalk.

Groups or individual artists interested in applying for the projects can do so at www.CallForEntry.org. Applications are open now through March 22.

Anyone with questions about the projects can go to Denver Public Arts‘ websites and search “public art opportunities.”

Although the sites have not been selected by officials, there are two sites under serious consideration.
