Police: Westminster woman shot, killed man during dispute with roommate over guests
A 25-year-old woman was arrested Sunday after she allegedly fatally shot a man in her house who was a guest of her roommate, the Westminster Police Department said..
Police said Serena Ahmad and her roommate got into an argument late Saturday night over some guests that the roommate had at the home.
Police said during the argument, Ahmad asked all of the guests to leave. When they didn’t, she retrieved a handgun and fired one round, striking an adult male guest, police said. The man died from his injuries.
After the shooting, Ahmad called police, who responded to her home in the 3400 block of 112th Circle at 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
Ahmad is in custody at the Adams County Detention Facility on suspicion of second-degree murder.
According to Ahmad’s LinkedIn, she works as a law clerk at Bloch & Chapleau LLC. She holds a degree in criminal justice from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and has a doctor of law from the University of Denver.
The investigation is ongoing. Police said there is no danger to the public.
The identity of the shooting victim will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office after his family has been notified.
