Man arrested in connection to at least two arsons in Weld County
A 30-year-old man was arrested in connection to at least two arson fires set last week in unincorporated Weld County, officials said.
Joseph E. VanHoesen was charged with two counts of second-degree arson and is being held in the Weld County Jail on a $20,000 bond, said officials from the Weld County Sheriff’s Office.

Weld County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a hay fire on a property near the intersection of county roads 31 and 36 around 12:40 p.m. on Feb. 25.
Later that day deputies were dispatched to another fire at an old camper at county roads 31 and 38.
Fire investigators from the Plateville-Gilcrest Fire Protection District and Lasalle Fire Department investigated the fires and determined that both started as a result of arson, WCSO officials said.

The following day deputies, members of the Strike Team and the Civil and Investigations units gathered physical evidence left at the scene and connected them to VanHoesen.
Some of the evidence collected included burns, a crashed vehicle and shoe impressions, WCSO officials said.
VanHoesen has also become a suspect in other arson cases that have taken place across northern Colorado.
