Metro Denver Crime Stoppers is offering a $15,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest in the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Diego Marquez in 2019.
Police said the shooting happened on Sept. 21, 2019, at Green Valley Ranch Park near East 45th Avenue and Argonne Street.
The Denver Police Department received a call of shots fired about 1 a.m. but responding officers didn’t find anything.
About 8 a.m., a person who came to prepare the fields for a football game discovered Marquez’s body lying on the ground in the park.
Marquez was killed by a gunshot wound, an autopsy report concluded.
Metro Denver Crime Stoppers previously offered $10,000 for information about the killing, but the reward has been increased thanks to contributions from Marquez’s father and an anonymous donor.

“I’m just wanting to get justice for my son and get those individuals off the streets,” said Marquez’s father, Jose. “You’d be doing the right thing, giving that information you have. I know someone knows a lot of things.”
In January 2020, an unnamed boy was arrested for first-degree murder in Marquez’s death. Investigators said the boy had an accomplice who has not been identified.
Police said the first arrest was made because of an anonymous tip to Metro Denver Crime Stoppers.
“We want to make sure that everyone who is involved in a case is brought to justice,” said Danney Goracke with Metro Denver Crime Stoppers.
Police have not released information about a possible motive or a description of potential suspects.
Anyone with information is asked to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
