Upon their arrival, they quickly determined that 80 to 100 gallons of fuel spilled into the alley from a semi-truck. What led to the spill is currently unknown, said Lt. Ben Pfeiffer, the public information officer for the agency.
“We’re not completely positive of what led to the spill, but we believe it had something to do with a semi that was pulling out of a docking station and something from underneath grabbed onto the tank, or caused damage to it,” Pfeiffer said.
By noon, crews had fully contained the spill and declared that the area was no longer hazardous.
No roads were closed as a result of the spill.
