Colorado Council of Churches’ 74th Easter Sunrise Service to be virtual for second consecutive year
The annual Colorado Council Churches Easter Sunrise Service will move online for a second consecutive year, officials announced Saturday afternoon.
Organizers said the decision was made because of the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The service has brought 13 different Christian denominations to the joint service for the last 74 years, and has been held at Red Rocks Amphitheater for decades.
CCC said they will post online the entire worship service led by Right Reverend Kimberly (Kym) Lucas who is the bishop of the Episcopal Church in Colorado.
Additional leaders are Bishop Karen Oliveto, Mountain Sky Conference, United Methodist Church and Rev. Denise Pass, executive presbyter, presbytery of Plains and Peaks, according to the news release.
Musical leaders will be Stephanie Garver and Spirit of Grace.
CCC said the virtual service will be posted on their website no later than 6 a.m. on Easter Sunday, which falls on April 4 this year. The service can also be watched on CCC’s Facebook page and Youtube channel.
