The annual Cherry Creek Arts Festival held on the Fourth of July has been pushed to Labor Day weekend because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the host organization CherryArts announced Wednesday.
The three-day event will be held from Sept. 4-6. This will be the 30th Cherry Creek Arts Festival after the event was canceled in 2020.
“While we are all eager to return to in-person events and celebrations, first and foremost, we are focused on ensuring the safety of our community,” said CherryArts CEO Tara Brickell.
“We’re hopeful that the COVID-19 restrictions will be at a lower level in September, allowing us to gather safely.”

Brickell said the event attracts thousands of artists and visitors each year. Currently, under Denver County’s Level Yellow COVID-19 restrictions status, residents are urged to avoid large gatherings.
The event is also being moved from its usual location in Cherry Creek North to the outdoor Creekside area of the Cherry Creek Shopping Center.
“We welcome the opportunity to help safely bring the community together to continue the long-held tradition of the Cherry Creek Arts Festival,” said Jeramy Burkinshaw, Cherry Creek Shopping Center general manager.
The Cherry Creek Arts Festival will include visual, performing arts and immersive art experiences.

The artists featured at the event will include all who were juried into the canceled 2020 Cherry Creek Arts Festival and are committed to returning in September.
“Given the current state of COVID-19 regulations, the change in date and location is the right thing to do,” said Nick LeMasters, CEO of the Cherry Creek North Business Improvement District. “We wholeheartedly support the transition.”
CherryArts is a year-round, nonprofit organization aiming to provide access to art experiences and support arts education in Colorado.
