A Denver man died after falling 50 feet at Rocky Mountain National Park Wednesday afternoon.
RMNP ranks in top 10 of deadliest national parks
According to a release from RMNP, the 33-year-old man fell on a rock outcropping between the upper and lower parking areas at Many Parks Curve along Trail Ridge Road in the northeastern portion of the park.
Park officials were made aware of the incident around 2 p.m. Wednesday, said Kyle Patterson, a spokesperson for RMNP.
The man was located and transported to the Larimer County Coroner’s Office.
Additional information regarding the man will be released after the family is notified of his death.
Earlier this year, RMNP was ranked the eighth-most deadly national park in the United States as 49 deaths occurred within its boundaries between 2010 and 2020, The Denver Gazette previously reported.
Eighteen of those deaths were the result of accidental falls, which is the most common cause of death in national parks.
