Injured climber rescued at Eldorado Canyon State Park

A man who injured his leg while climbing at Eldorado Canyon State Park was rescued Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities received a report that a 32-year-old climber injured his leg after a fall of 10 feet in the area of the Wind Tower at ECSP. Boulder County sheriff’s deputies said the fall was due to equipment malfunction.

Mountainview Fire Protection crews alongside Rocky Mountain Rescue Group located the man and put him into a litter and splint, according to the release from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office. 

Rescuers used a rope system to bring the injured climber to the ledge. He was then was brought down to an ambulance.

He was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation, according to the release.

BCSO, Mountainview Fire Protection District, RMRG and Colorado Parks and Wildlife assisted with the rescue.
