Passengers headed to Denver International Airport Saturday evening may encounter some slight traffic delays as the airport installs new overhead signs.
Overnight closures along part of eastbound Peña Boulevard will begin at 9 p.m. Saturday. The road will reopen at 4 a.m. Sunday, according to a release from DIA.
Traffic will be diverted to the East Terminal, while RTD buses will pick up and drop off passengers at the Level 6 East throughout the closure.
Passengers will not be able to access economy parking during the closure, but should follow signs to the East Garage Parking.
Additional closures will happen throughout the week on Tuesday and May 15 to finish the signage portion of the project.
This phase is just one of a large Peña Boulevard project that aims to improve the safety of the roads near the airport, officials said.
Future improvements will include addressing aging and failing infrastructure that includes replacing 25-year-old pavement, and adding two additional lanes along Peña Boulevard.
