Shooting suspect at-large after lockdown of Brighton neighborhood

The suspect in a shooting investigation evaded capture after the Brighton Police Department placed a neighborhood on lockdown late Wednesday night.

Police said the shooting happened about 7 p.m. in the 200 block of North Fifth Avenue. One man was shot and was treated for minor injuries.

The suspect, also a man, fled the scene before police arrived. About 9 p.m., police issued a shelter-in-place order for the Brentwood Townhomes in the 2100 block of Bridge Street while officers searched for the suspect.

After an hour of searching, police lifted the order without having apprehended the suspect. Police said they believe the suspect left Brighton.

Police said there is no threat to the general community as the suspect and victim knew each other and the shooting resulted from a personal conflict.

Police have not released any identifying information about the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 303-288-1535 or Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.

Crime Stoppers tipsters can be anonymous and are eligible for a $2,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest.
