Denver man arrested for allegedly strangling, beating ex-girlfriend
A Denver man wanted for allegedly beating and strangling his ex-girlfriend was arrested over the weekend, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said.
Jamar Anthony Harris Sr., 36, has been charged with second-degree kidnapping, second-degree assault, third-degree assault and obstruction of phone. He is being held at the Jefferson County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
The victim told deputies that Harris lured her to his truck under false pretenses then assaulted her on May 9 in the parking lot in the 16000 block of West 10th Avenue in Golden.
Deputies said Harris allegedly forced the woman into his truck and, while driving, beat and strangled her. The victim had multiple injuries that were confirmed by a medical examination.
A warrant was issued for Harris’ arrest by May 12. He was taken into custody by officers with the Aurora Police Department days later.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Harris’ next court date is scheduled for Friday at 10 a.m. where he will receive his second advisement, according to the sheriff’s office.
