Ball Arena to increase capacity to 10,500 for Avalanche, Nuggets playoff games
Denver’s Ball Arena has increased its capacity to 10,500 fans ahead of the playoff games for the Colorado Avalanche and Denver Nuggets.
Ball Arena, formerly known as the Pepsi Center, announced the increased capacity Wednesday. The change moves the venue to 57.3% of its overall capacity — up from its previous 42.3% or 7,750-fan limit.
“We couldn’t be more excited to bring additional fans into Ball Arena,” Matt Bell of Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, the venue’s owner, said in a news release. “The health, safety and wellness of our fans, frontline workers, staff and athletes remains our top priority as our venue capacity continues to be evaluated.”
Bell said the venue received approval from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and the Denver Department of Public Health and Environment to increase its capacity.
The change comes as rates of COVID-19 have steadily decreased in Colorado since the winter. Denver, and its neighboring metro counties, lifted the majority of COVID-19 restrictions last week, including all capacity and social distancing limits.
All guests older than 2 are still required to wear face masks at Ball Arena. Masks must be worn at all times except when eating or drinking in ticketed seats. The mask requirement includes in the parking lot, plaza, concourse and while seated. Guests are also asked to keep a six-foot distance between parties whenever possible.
All policies and procedures are required regardless of a guest’s vaccination status, officials noted. Guests who fail to comply with the mask and social distancing requirements may be removed from Ball Arena without refund.
The capacity increase is set to begin with either the Avalanche or Nuggets home playoff game.
Playoff ticket priority will be given to Avalanche and Nuggets ticket plan holders and partners. If additional seats remain available, fans who sign up for limited ticket release waitlists will be notified. For additional ticket information, visit ColoradoAvalanche.com and Nuggets.com.
