Barricade situation ends peacefully in Aurora

A barricaded suspect surrendered peacefully Thursday evening after a short standoff in Aurora, police said.

Members of the Aurora Police Department and its SWAT Division took the man into custody outside of a home in the 3100 block of South Uravan Way in south-central Aurora shortly before 8 p.m.

No one was injured during the situation, police said.

Anyone who was evacuated from their homes can now return.

Police announced that an armed person was barricading themselves inside of a home at 7:24 p.m. on Twitter. They immediately sent reverse 911 calls to nearby residents and began attempting to reach a peaceful resolution.

Information about what led to the person barricading themselves is currently unknown; attempts to reach the police department have been unsuccessful.

This is a breaking news report. More information will be added as it becomes available.
