Injured climbers rescued in Clear Creek Canyon
Two injured climbers were rescued along U.S. Highway 6 through Clear Creek Canyon Saturday morning, officials said.
The Golden Fire Department announced the road closure at 10:49 a.m. and said the rescue happened on the east side of Tunnel 2.
West Metro Fire Rescue assisted with the response.
One of the victims was rescued around noon and was transported to a trauma center by a Flight for Light helicopter, the department said.
About 15 minutes later, the second climber was successfully removed from the mountain and transported to a local hospital via an ambulance.
Information regarding the suspects and their status was not available.
U.S. 6 is a main route to the gambling towns of Central City and Black Hawk from the Denver metro area.
