Two vehicle crash leaves one with life-threatening injuries
A serious crash that closed portions of U.S. Highway 285 Wednesday has left one person with life-threatening injuries, according to a release from the Colorado State Patrol.
State troopers responded to a report of a collision involving a semi-truck around 11:30 a.m. near mile post 184, just north of Fairplay.
An initial investigation of the crash showed that a white Toyota 4-Runner was traveling north on the highway. It crossed over the center line of a semi-truck and trailer headed south and collided, according to the release.
The Toyota was sent off the west side of the road and rolled down an embanked before coming to a stop. The driver suffered life-threatening injuries and was flown to a medical facility, according to the release.
The driver of the semi-truck was unharmed. There were no other individuals in either vehicle, CSP said.
