RTD to lift capacity limits, increase bus, train, light rail service
Big changes are coming to public transit this weekend as the Regional Transportation District will be lifting capacity limits and increasing service for its buses, trains and light rails.
RTD said the changes will start Sunday to support modest increases in ridership over the last few weeks. The agency is also expecting an increase in ridership as summer events begin and more workers return to the office.
RTD said the changes will “improve on-time performance and increase service reliability.”
RTD drastically cut its capacity limits per vehicle and reduced the frequency of most buses, trains and light rails in response to a significant drop in ridership during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The following routes will experience increased service frequency or slight schedule adjustments beginning Sunday:
- Local bus routes: 8, 9, 12, 15, 20, 21, 24, 28, 34, 37, 38, 40, 43, 44, 49, 72, 88, 88L, 93L, 99, 104L, 120L, 153, 169L, 323, 324, 326, 483, 520, BOUND
- Regional bus routes: BOLT, RX
- Rail lines: E, L, W
RTD customers and operators will still be required to wear masks while waiting for and while riding on the agency’s public transit until at least Sept. 13, under the national Transportation Security Administration mandate.
Specific route and schedule information is available at RTD website or by calling 303-299-6000.
